Soullink's News

So let's see. No music updates though I've made great strides with Peaceful Village.

Working as co-author with Fox4729 on Mario World 4 Rouges Destiny though lately the wait for the sprites has been driving me crazy. Chapter one's script is ready so we should be looking at trailers soon.

The successful completion of another chapter in my series Soul Balance(c), a drop in a very large bucket to be sure.

Sending out random music direction advice one of my favorite techno writers here on Newgrounds and getting great profit and assist credit which last time I checked is the perfect formula for win. (GP+AC=FTW?) My math tends to be a little skewed at times.

And now I've begun work on a new project that's top secret.

So why am I thinking and reflecting. Well besides the fact that the only thing that's reached completion being the one thing I helped the least amount with *sigh* I've now been talking to my career councilor and she says that she might be able to get me an internship at a certain gaming company for just this sort of work. A dream I've long since thought of accomplishing by the way. Working on the games I love to play. She thinks I stand at chance at Project Management and Execution positions based on all that I've done and have been working on. So with that I begin compiling a portfolio of my work and realize I only have like, four decent finished projects. It's time I kicked things into gear! But for the super secret project... I'm gonna need Newground's help.

More news to come.

Fox and I have been talking lately and it seems he can use my creative writing talents. That's right. Soul Balance(c) and now co-authoring fox's work. Two creative writings on top of my musical creativity. I must admit that writing is far more my style. I've actually been doing more work on my story Soul Balance(c) no music. So now it's co-author collab time. Can't wait!

Okay... remember that plan I had a while back. Gone. Completely out the window. Plan? What plan? Instead I've found myself getting inspired by Sonic Unleashed (Apotos), some random guitar player on my campus, and a few other guitar beats I'd been running through my head. The results, my two new projects.

The Wharf: A piece that has a sort of Apotos feel. Guitar, accordian, etc. It's way more upbeat than I'm used to writing though. Guess I'm just in better spirits? Okay that's bullshit but it's true that my composition is very much affected by my emotions.

Peaceful Village: Exactly what it sounds like. A one hundred percent original piece intented to set an easy mood. The first three notes I once heard played by some OP guitarist girl. The rest just sorta happened while I was bored in class.

Are they done yet? Ofcourse not. The Wharf's about 35% done and Peaceful Village is more like 15% which is a shame because I'm starting to like how that one is coming out better.
What of the other songs you spoke of?
Clash Samba... will be next I swear. Trying to keep the upbeat.
Desperate Hour... has indeed become sort of a song. Still on its way though. Be looking out for Moments of Desperation. The final cut.
Old School Adventure... really, really, really needs that mixing program to work. And... well, the sad thing is that it's like half way done already.
As for Wayfarer's Hymn... well I think I'm just twidling my thumbs on that one till I can work in an Amen/Halleluja in the choir voice and ultimately it won't be public ready till it's remastered anyway. Once the end has been established I hope to send it to BlazingDragon for Collaboration consideration.
I actually have a large amount of other ideas lined up... just waiting for inspiration.
Thank you to the six people who have commented and to all the OC Remix folks that gave such wonderful constructive critiscim on Wayfarer's Hymn. Maybe I do have a bit of a following.
Well... that's all for now.

So this is what happens when College starts up again and I force myself to pick a project and go somewhere with it. This is the revisioned version of Desperate Hour. A track that was originally just a test for the site that my very first critic suggested I turn into a longer song. I hit major road blocks with Clash Samba and might still post what I have while I've completely maxed out on Wayfarer's Hymn. I may still turn to Blazing Dragon to save me from my inability to finish it. The counter-melodies are proving too difficult to cut up and space apart for any new variation on the previous progressions. For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about it's as complicated as it sounds. Until then it's been a month and I figured it's only fair that I post something new. Hope you enjoy it. I like some of the new harmonizations and chords with this flute, oboe, and string ensemble piece.

So far I seem to be doing okay. The re-mix has been reviewed by many other circles, well, not newgrounds but other places that know about it. lol Anyway it seems to be doing amazingly well. I guess the next question is what's next for the re-mixing realm? Should I bother to keep doing so? And what of the other original pieces that I still got on the back burner?
SO MANY QUESTIONS!
So how about some answers. With the success of Wayfarer's Hymn I have decided that it's time to start planning.
First thing's first, get a mixing program. Once that happens time to finish up these projects.
1. Fully Remaster Wayfarer's Hymn (Possibly collab'd)
2. Remaster Soulialous and Walking Alone
3. Finish Clash Samba
4. Turn Desperate Hour into a song
5. Finish Old School Adventure Instrumental Re-mix
6. Consider new genre option with addition of mixing program
Sadly most of these require said mixing program. Equilization and mixing are what my pieces really need. So we will see what this year holds. Don't know if I have fans or not but I'll be happy to hear from you guys.
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

And so after a long month of long nights I have completed my christmas gift to the portal. The Chrono Trigger Remix of Prayer of the Wayfarer is finished and just in time for the holidays. If you listen closely you'll find what I found out. That the Wind Scene, aka Yearnings of the Wind works well with this progression too. It is still mostly original I assure you.
This was alot of fun and I hope you enjoy:
Wayfarer's Hymn
This is my first remix. Ever. I'm pretty excited and hope I did the song and the game justice.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Okay so in honor of the re-release of one of the greatest rpg's I've had the privlage of playing, Chrono Trigger, I've diceded to throw my hat into the re-mix/re-master ring and create my first cover of a video game song. I have chosen a rather hard song seeing as I've found no one so far who has attempted it. I won't spoil the suprise yet but let's just say I love the organ...
And for those of you that think I've gone soft I use alot more of my own ideas than the actual chiptune. Inculding the incorporation of another Chrono Trigger song I realized sync'd up perfectly.
Don't know when it will be finished or even if what I put up will be considered a final cut but I'll keep my fan base of 2 posted. If I am even worthy of calling them a fan base that is. lol. sigh...

How does it feel America? How does it feel?
For those of you that missed it sleeping, Rick Astley rick-rolled america on the Foster's float at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... wow...
I mean seriously, wow.

People of the portal, okay deep breath here goes, my four finale pieces are finally up and ready for listening and reviews. I once again would like to stress that they were orignally sheet music written works converted to high quality midi instrumental playback. I assure you that, though influenced by other works in certain instances, each piece I have submited is 100% original and possesses a sheet music form.

Desperate Hour: a quick forlorn piece that fore-tells sorrow.

Soulialous: The first song I ever wrote. Originally was just the organ part but took on a life of its own and has become a theme of sorts.

Walking Alone: A dark walk of the solitary soul. The bell tones set the tone and the oboe plays a lonesome sorrowful tune accented by the other instruments.

And lastly,

The Things We Feared: My halloween submission that is incridibely late. I was commissioned to write a song for this years family halloween show and I delievered this little number. When your a little kid the room loses it's friendly qualities at night. Especially when the music box turns sour and then an organ kicks in with hollow bells replacing that music box. The songs that plagued me as a kid come out in this one.

I am currently working on two more and a remake of a piece from a fellow portal musician. Don't know when they'll be done and up... or even if I should add them seeing as I don't know how you guys are gonna like these ones.

Well, here they are. For better or for worse. Feel free to tell me how ya like em.

Thanks to the wonders of my college's music lab I can now upload my music. For better or for worse here are a few of my latest pieces. Desperate Hour is a test. The others are original movements created by yours truly on Finale. Sheet music turned midi. All original. All songs are copyright Entourage(c) and Soul Balance Industries(c).
