Hey!

Wow... it's very beautiful. I can only imagine what you were thinking of when you wrote it...

BlazingDragon responds:

I was thinking, "Bethoveen sure is a freakin' genius. If only I could learn to emulate his style and take bits and pieces of it for my own...hmmm....." Then I started composing it, and I got giddy because it was so much fun to write!

Big O

So you remember Big O at all? It's an anime where Dorthy, an android and Roger Smith, a negotiator of sorts, must solve the worlds problems etc. She's got an affinity for piano though. The only catch is, she's a robot so though the piece is amazing when she plays it it feels like it's missing something.

So what does all that mean? Your piece is complex. It dances but where it should be light, where it should breathe, where it should slow down, it cannot. Fire Dorthy. lol.

Being that I have a natural ear for music as I do play and compose myself I can see what you're trying to convey. The movements are relevant, the progression is there, but breathing needs to occur. Sometimes it's okay to let something hang over. Allow for a bit of silence during the song. It can build as much anticipation as a run does.

Personally, I do like the piece, but I would love for you to play it, or some one to actually play it on the piano. Take the sheet music and add in tempo changes, dynamics, write out the emotions the movements that you were trying to convey and give it to a pianist and see what happens. I would love to hear someone play this. The emotions they would infuse in it would surely bring this up to a ten.
P.S.
Stuck with just finale so I know how ya feel. lol

Dude09 responds:

Tyanks a lot ^__^ You def. know what ur talking about and thats why i love composing for this website. This was an attampt at an etude like Chopin would do, but unfortuanely, I wasn't able to put in the rubato he used. Also, I can only play a grade 1, this is a 7 :( lol Thanks again :3

Like I can compare...

When I wrote Soulialous I had just started my first year of college. I was young and stupid. And only had finale. None the less I started composing. Since then I have hit countless snags and felt less than inspired. I still would love to collab with you on Wayfarer's Hymn... but I find myself unable to. Currently in the midst of creating character themes for my latest hair-brained scheme. But that's beside the point.

A true piece of music is inspired. Is driven. Is a part of the person who created it. You're still in high school. Your still young... yet your music is so mature. It reminds me of when I still had the spark... if I could only get Finale back... though you call it drifting, I see it as a reflection. A reflection of your drifting yes. But more than that. Your musing. Your fleeting youth. Strings always get to me... you command your instruments. Shape them. The oboe/english horn solo, the piano, the movement... your piece is emotion. Something music currently seems to be lacking. It's all re-occurring themes and bump and grind now-a-days. So every now and again, it's nice to know some one out there remembers what music is really about... and is doing something about it.

People will ridicule you. They will say you are too emotional. Too classical. That you need to get with the times. Please, for the love of true music, real compositions everywhere, and for yourself, never stop creating. Never stop pouring your heart into the staves. Even if you decide to take on another canvas, never give up on this gift.

There... I've said way too much. Music both inspires and comes forth from me at the most random times. If this wall of txt tells you anything, at least come away with this. Creativity, arts, originality... these things aren't easy to come by. And if you enjoy what you're doing and continue letting yourself truly come out in your work, Crookston will be more than just another Williams or Zimmer. Ya know? I've found I need good freelancers like you. People who break the mold, who do it for fun, who put a piece of them in their work. The world, needs those kinds of people. Souls... be it my writing, her artwork, or your music. There I go rambling again. It truly is beautiful. Not because it's a ten, but because this means you are a ten.

BlazingDragon responds:

I've been struggling a lot lately. Looking at one college website after another, lost as to what I should do...I wonder, is music what I'm meant to do? Could I make it into a conservatory like Juilliard or Curtis or any for that matter? Music is so competitive, and unless you make it big, it doesn't pay much. I want to support a family later on, to live happily. As much as I love composing, is it what I'm supposed to do with my life? Am I really making any difference with music, or should I be a writer, a speaker, someone who has influence?

I have pondered these things a lot lately. I've been on my bed, staring up at the ceiling as I try to figure it out. It is reviews like this that reassure me. I AM affecting people. I still have a lot of room to grow, but so does everyone! It doesn't matter if I'm not John Williams, because I am ME. I want to compose music that touches souls, pours emotion, and inspires people to be all that they can be...

Thank you for the inspiring words. I really needed that, SoulLink. God Bless.

After this and Temple Lullaby...

I am speechless....

Loops well, is so peaceful, it's like your in the ante-chamber before the inevitable Aeon fight and it's just peacefully resting there. Waiting for the summoner... waiting... silently... peacefully...
I can't wait for what you really wanted to do with this. It has limitless potential. Keep us posted on it.

VGSongbird responds:

Thank you. ^_^
I will use my choral knowledge to try and extend this, that's a sure thing.

MY COLLECTION IS COMPLETE!

You've done it again. I knew I was missing something with regards to my three artist ultimate newgrounds 8-bit collection.(See ParagonX9, nickperrin, eliteferrix). And you've delievered. The ultimate culminating jewel in the playlist is hands down this. I love the bumping break downs. Do-ba do do ba-do do ba-do do ba-do-ba! Perfect with all the runs up and down. It just screams the final act. If not that certainly racing to the final act. Impressive. Glad guys like Tabu112 and I could be a help. And as always, appreciate the honorable mentions. Don't disappear on us again man. I know you're busy and respect it but you got a flair for original tech compositions. As if you didn't already know. lol

EliteFerrex responds:

Well, thank you again, Soullink. I appreciate yout input on my work, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy what I create, 8-bit or not. =)

Guess'n time

2. It's from Super Mario 64 just like three. Happen to like that song.
4. shoot I know it.... but I just can't seem think of it. Is it from Diddy Kong Racing I wanna say it's beach related, perhaps? Then again it also reminds me of the Choa graden music in Sonic Adventure.
7. No idea
8. No idea
Guessing 7 and 8 are those Popotan?
11. I have heard it but have no idea where it comes from.

darphfluffy responds:

OMG 8 IS SURFING THEME FROM POKEMON IS THIS WEBSITE RETARDED!?!?

yes 7 is from Popotan.

Impressive

I must say... since Bezo's geogorian chant version of old, I have yet to hear a more stirring rendition of this song. Once again I have found a sung version I wish to hear in a gothic cathedral. Beautiful voice by the way. Hate to say it, but if the movie ever did get off he ground, this wold have to be in it. Hands down. Well done harmonies too. Although having all of the voices be yours probly helped. I especially liked the ending chords.

VGSongbird responds:

Thanks ^_^

I took some serious inspiration from Bezo's and from DarkLink2000's versions of this.

WE SHALL PREVAIL!

Sounds to me like your back in action. I too like the trumpets. They really take the 8-bit original and give it a new dimension. The drums drive the beat but the don't over bear it. I actually found the bell tones that run up and down started growing on me. It's very triumphant. Much like your return to the remixing realm. Only complaint, the fade out is kinda sudden. Otherwise, very nice.

DrWaldo responds:

yeah i realized i messed up with the fade out after i exported it lol

Ever rail grind in a theme park?

Never got to play the game but have heard the original. That being said the original sucked. What you've done is put it in a new direction. That I really dig. Here's another wild card track. The begining is the count down for the big rail grind grand-px. Then 0:06 starts things off in a techno dome down hill grind into the futuristic theme park. Think Cowboy Bebop. You know the one with the invincible assassian with the mind of a child. Things get interesting with the inclusion of unwanted enemies at 0:40. The build up at 1:21 is when they start actually fighting while grinding towards the finish... then the song drops out suddenly and I loose everything. It's interesting because from a set the mood stand point the whole song is great. But from a race the rail grind the song shines from 1:21 on. Did I like it? Do you have to ask?

Auron59 responds:

Yeehaw!

Here's how I see it

So our heroes are in the future in the test lab facility. They're being brought up to speed about the latest in technological weaponry and the current situation in this dire rebellion. The new M.E.C.H. Suits are ready for testing. Their blueprints and stats are being displayed on an on screen computer. They are told that it links to them like hyper enhanced armor. A sort of internal Soul wavelength will be established. As the chimes ting in, they are being told that they will be customized to each individuals personality, fighting style, and shape. This will mean when damage is taken to the suit, they will feel what the suit feels, Eureka 7 style, etc. As it draws to a close each hero accepts these terms and finishes their tests and scans. The last note is them approaching the newly customized M.E.C.H. Suits.
Doubt this is helpful but any song that projects a scene that vivid in my mind is that good. I have this in a playlist for my story, book four. The future arch. New Nova. Come to think of it alot of your and Zero-Resurrected's works are in that playlist arch. lol

DrWaldo responds:

Thats really deep.... come to think about it it sound really awesome. Thanks for the review

I do collabs and make music. Mostly I write stories. This is what I do.
